Well, i guess it wouldn't hut too much if his/her nails are real sharp. But for a better opinion you should go to a pet store that offers grooming or a dog grooming shop. Oh, and it may not be a good idea to do it at home, so if you ask a dog grooming shop, once they tell you what they think if they say yes, then let them do it if needed.
