Because noses are quite obvious and can easily be seen, you'd likely notice an infection very quickly and get it treated. And even though the nose is on the face, and therefore, close to the brain, a person would need to go up through the nose into the sinuses or eye socket to even come close to the brain. And even if it came near the brain, it would need to break through the dura, or outer covering of the brain. So that is highly UNlikely to happen.
So, it would be extremely rare to die from a nose piercing. You would be more likely to infect or kill the tissues at the end of the nose, requiring the tip of the nose to be removed.
