No but you can screw up important saliva ducts and other important facial structures that control mouth movement, assist in chewing and swallowing. Seriously the dimple piercing is a case of piercing getting carried away, no professional body piercer knows what structures are where in the cheeks. You are taking a serious risk at having one or more facial structures permanently damaged by this piercing. I have had mine pierced for about 6 years, and I went an entire year without anything in them, and I had dimples even without the jewelry in. When you puncture the muscle in your cheeks, and put something in the way of that muscle mending completely (in this case a Lebret Stud) They cheek compensates for the jewelry, and heals around it, INDEED leaving permanent dimples.
