No, you can't die from a badly placed bellybutton piercing. There are no major blood vessels or nerves near. If you get it done by a professional there is little to no risk of it being put in the wrong spot. The only thing you should worry about is keeping it clean as an infection would be very bad. but unless you have a very weak immune system you won't die from it or even get sick. The above statement in Italics is wrong You can cause some serious issues with your navel should you be dumb enough to pierce it yourself, blood poisioning, secondary infections, and a few really nasty ones I won't repeat here. However seeing a professional body piercer is the best bet every time.
