This should be performed by a vet before the puppies are three days old. The tail is either cut quickly and sharply with curved surgical scissors or a tight rubber band is wrapped around the tail to make it fall off after a few days.
you can, but the poodle would be in a lot more pain than a 3 to 5 day old poodle.
i wouldn't.
Usely the tail are dock some owners keep the tail and yes sometimes they do curl.
no it will cause them to much pain
I cut my doberman's tail when she was a few weeks old, but you should do it between 4 and 7 days for the least trauma and no anesthetic to be necessary. My rotweiller got his cut then, and it was quite easy. Treatment time was short, and he was happy as ever.
Depends on the breed of Poodle you have. There are Standard, Miniature, etc. Poodles. You should take your poodle in to your Veterinarian before it is 5 days old to have its tail docked. Your Vet will know the correct length to dock it at. If you have to have it docked after that age, then it will be a regular surgery. Should only be done by a Veterinarian and the Vet will know the correct length.
In my experience with poodles they are friendly with anyone who treats them with respect, care and love. However, if that 9-year old (or any age person) harms or hurts the poodle in any way, he will find that the poodle will keep his distance from that person forever.
Yes, 3 weeks is too old to dock a puppy's tail. Normally this procedure is done between the ages of 2-5 days old. You can have it done at 3 weeks but now it will be a major surgery where the puppy will have to be sedated and the tail docked and sutures put in. It will cost a lot more too.
Erza's 19 years old. Her birthday is on X765 and the current year of Fairy tail today is X784.
Black poodles should not turn white unless they are parti poodles as these can be of mixed colour. Black poodles can get grey hair, some more than others as they age.
Usually at 8 or nine months of age they are done growing.
I have a English bulldog myself, and they have it because every dog needs a tail, that is just a part of the way they are. My dog does in fact have a curly tail, but when i see some other English bulldogs, sometimes they are not curly they are just stumps.
The typical age for a Dog to have it's tail docked is under ten days old. A veterinarian will advise on the best time to dock an individual puppies tail as it may not be strong enough to go through the operation or may be healthy enough to have it's tail docked earlier. This operation is now illegal in the UK unless performed on working puppies.
Tail docking is banned in the UK, and in some other countries, check the law for your country, otherwise you could have charges of animal cruelty brought against you. Docking should always be done by a veterinarian.
