I was told today at the Canadian Blood Service (after taking time off work to donate because O- was in demand) that I was ineligible to donate within 24 hours of taking quetiapine (seroquel). Their reasoning was that the loss of blood may decrease the effectiveness of the drug, even though I only take it to sleep and it was 18 hours since my last dose, 6 hours before my next one. Disappointing.

If you are sick and having medicine i recommend you not to give plasma because you're gonna need it to be able to fight the bacteria in your body. Therefore I don't think you can donate plasma while taking trileptal.

Yes, you can in Canada. I was told that the reason people who took Seroquel were not allowed to give plasma was to protect the donors. Seroquel is strong medication and the side effects may cause the donor to feel more depleted after donating plasma
