People do not all recover from surgery at the same speed; it depends upon your general level of health, and the way you feel. Personally, I could return to work the day after major dental surgery. But your mileage may vary.

It really depends on how you feel. I would certainly say don't plan on going the same day as the surgery - your mouth will be frozen, swollen, and bleeding. Unless you are superman/woman you will be in pain for a few days afterwards. Even though you will have painkillers to manage it, depending on what you take you may also have side effects - my meds left me sleepy and having dizzy spells. Something else to remember is you may end up stuck on a very light diet filled with not the most healthy food (jello, ice cream, pudding, etc.) and not able to drink water/liquids easily (meaning you get a little dehydrated). You may feel too lethargic to work. Anyway...I would try to give yourself at least 3 recovery days (including surgery day) and, if possible, have the option of taking off a 4th.

It depends.

Some people suffer no serious after effects, others do.

For me, I waited a week. It took that long to actually feel good enough to work.

You'll be glad you got braces, good for you. Very often, if wisdom teeth have no room to erupt, it is recommended to extract them following an orthodontic treatment.
