Immediately after the procedure, many people experience mild discomfort, pain, burning, itching and transient blurred vision. These symptoms improve considerably within the first few days after surgery, so driving alone may not be advisable. It might be best to ask somebody to do the driving until the symptoms subside. The permission to return to normal activities can be given by the eye surgeon once recovery is sufficient and vision is improved.

What is the side effect of laser surgery on cataract?

Laser eye surgery is performed on the cornea or outer surface of the eye. Cataracts develop on the lens which is inside of the eye, behind the colored part of the eye (the iris) and the pupil. If you have a cataract now, you will want to first get it removed before having laser vision surgery. If you don't have cataracts now and want to have LASIK, go right ahead. Know that having LASIK won't prevent you from developing cataracts in the future, though. The good news is that having LASIK won't prevent you from having successful cataract surgery in the future either. Hope that helps!

What is wavefront lasik?

With traditional LASIK, you essentially receive what's in your prescription glasses or contacts lenses permanently on your cornea to treat your nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. With custom (Wavefront) LASIK, you receive that correction plus the correction for about a dozen other characteristics of your eyes that contribute to blurry vision (like distortion around headlights when you drive at night.) We charge the same at our practice for Custom and standard LASIK to make the decision easy for our patients. Go with the best technology--you won't regret it!
