Yea, I have don't it many times. You can always dye light hair darker, but never try to dye your dark hair light, unless you are going to a professional!
Its very difficult to dye over red hair dyes as if you dyed it brown over the red, the red would come through. You could try a colour stripper to strip the red out of your hair then dye it light brown :) xx

In order for the colour of your hair not to go catastrophically wrong- you must do it in stages. Eg- dye your hair light brown first, then red. Otherwise the colour will turn very bright or dirty orange. Hope I helped!

re-dye your hair with a brown colour that contains a hint of red dye. this should go over the green.
depends what kind of light brown it is. If its closer to a blone then you could do a couple streeks. but if it is a regular light brown then no. bcause it would look like you red hair dye is comming off. and thats not a good look.
