You'd have a hot fig. It might pop if you heated it enough and the skin remained intact (until popping, of course).
It climbs up it using its roots to get to sunlight in the canopy. Eventually the strangler fig tree will strangle the host tree to death and only the hollow strangler fig will be left.
As an occasional treat it is fine. Some horses really like Fig Newtons. Just remember, everything in moderation.
