You could repair a blown speaker, but it's way cheaper just to buy a new speaker instead of breaking it open and buying separate parts. To repair a broken speaker, you need expert skills and tools. Without, you are likely to damage those parts of the speaker that were previously undamaged, and you're unlikely to repair the initial damage. Chevy used weak glue to attach the surround to the frame. When you look at a speaker, you see a "bubble" in the middle, that is called the dust cap. From the dust cap the speaker forms a cone to the outside edge of the speaker, this is called the "cone". Surrounding the cone is the "surround". The surround is a convex piece of flexible material that allows the cone to move up and down… Read More
I know this sounds weird but where the speaker is suck on it and try using it again. Another thing you can try, assuming that you're using a computer running Windows 7/Vista, is to check whether it's a software problem. To do so, you must first right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds" from the menu. Then you go to the "Playback" tab and select your headphones on the list. Then you… Read More

How do you fix your inspiron 531 speakers when you put your headphones in the jack they work but when you just use the speakers they wont on the sound levels they say that the speaker is working?
The problem is in the headphone jack. It has a switch that shuts off the speakers when you plug in headphones, but that switch is stuck on. You will have to have the jack replaced if it is built in to the motherboard or on a connector on the front of the tower, or you can replace the sound card. Read More
My understanding is that when you plug your headphones into the computer and try to play a song on iTunes, the sound does not work. The first fix to try is to make sure the headphones actually connect into the computer and work. Some headphones do not work with some ports in the computer for headphones. The second possible fix is to make sure you are plugging it into a headphone slot and not a… Read More
You plugged a car speaker into your zenith allegro sound system through the headphone jack and you think you shorted the system out can you fix the sound system?
The headphone jack is actually wired with resistors so the headphones don't get the full amplifiers output. The only way you can fry the speaker system, is to send voltage back through the headphone jack and/or crank the volume all the way up with a short or no speaker connection. Check speaker fuses! FIRST, make sure if you only tripped a breaker or blew a fuse! Go to your electrical panel and LOOK. Breakers should be ON; if not, flip it to the ON position. You can see a difference in the center on a blown fuse-- buy a new on, unscrew the old one, and screw in the new one. If the socket still does not work, the socket itself may be overheating or "bad". If you… Read More
