It is not against the law, no. But if the flag is flying at night, it is considered poor form/disrespectful if it does not have a light trained on it.
yes
the reason why we have to light the American flag is because people who comes from another country has to know what flag we represent and also because our flags mean different things and we need to respect our flag at all times.
The American flag should be flown above a light as a sign of respect
The US Flag Code specifically states "the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness."
You cant let the flag touch the ground or that is disrespect of the United States Of America......Never cut or rip the flag....... Always keep the flag in the light, if it is outside in the dark at night that means that our country has fallen........All the other flags have to be lower than the American Flag
If the flag of the United States of America is outside at night it should be illuminated.
It's just for respect.
American National Flags are taken down at night as a sign of respect. There is an old saying in the military that "Stars and Stripes lead the way" however, just like soldiers, they need light to do so. That is why if a flag is left up at night that it is custom to light it with a spot light. It all goes back to the line in our national anthem about our flag.
If the U.S. flag is flown after dark, it should be lighted.
The light from the red glare you would be able to see it.
