The only problem is that a lot of younger clerks don't recognize them and become confused, thinking that it's a special type of quarter - the same mistake that happened a lot when the coin was first released. But because it has the same weight and electrical properties as a modern "golden" dollar coin, you can always use it in a vending machine or self-service checkout that takes $1 coins.
