You can get the CDL. It's finding someone who'll hire you with a record like that which becomes difficult.
So long as you've met the conditions for reinstatement of your licence, you can upgrade to a CDL. However, with three DUIs, you may want to consider other career options, unless your DUIs occurred a very long time ago. If any of them have occurred within the last three years, you're untouchable to any prospective employer. If any of them have occurred within the last ten years, it's still going to be an uphill battle to try finding someone who'll hire you. If you have multiple DUIs within the past ten years, you once again gain that 'untouchable' status.
You MAY be able to apply for a CDL license, but it is pretty doubtful that you would ever find an employer who would hire you with a record like that. ---- You can get a CDL, that part won't be a problem. However, I'm going to concur with the above about your prospects of finding employment being a bit doubtful, especially if either of those convictions happened within the past ten years. I've known truck drivers who've had DUI convictions, but these are typically people who had their DUIs back in the 80s or earlier, and have had a lot of time pass since it happened. To be quite frank, if you have a habit of driving drunk, you're a liability, not only with a CDL, but with any class of drivers licence.
There is good news and bad news here. The bad news is that yes, you can obtain a CDL, provided any suspension or revocation period imposed on you has passed. The good news is that no company is going to touch you with a ten foot pole with three DUIs on your record, and thus, you won't be out there driving a big truck.
A DUI in Florida is a misdemeanor up until the 3rd or subsequent offense within ten years, at which point it becomes a 3rd degree felony.
Yes, of course. Your entire work history for the past seven years must be disclosed, as well as any CDL driving job you've held in the past ten years.
Yeah, had one for ten years now. What was your question?
Points stay on for three years. Convictions, incidents, etc. will show up on your MVR for seven to ten years, depending on your state.
Insurance companies look back three years. As for your MVR, it remains on your record either seven or ten years, dependent on your state.
You can upgrade to a CDL as soon as your licence is reinstated. However, you might not want to be so hasty - for the first three years following your DUI conviction, you're untouchable - your chances of being hired as a CDL driver are... none to none. For the following two years, they're slim to none. Once five years have passed since your DUI conviction, your chances will improve, although you'll experience some bias on account of the DUI for ten years following your DUI conviction.
So long as you've met the requirements to have your licence reinstated, then yes. However, if your DUI occurred within the past three years, your chances of finding employment as a CDL driver are pretty much null, and the DUI conviction can continue to bear prejudice against you for employment for up to ten years after your conviction.
