Actually you can, I found this out the hard way. I was having problems with my cable and internet and had a service man come out but he could not find the trouble so I took some advice he had on setting up my splitters in a different way to increase my reception. While unhooking the cable wires I got a shock. I disconnected that wire and hooked everything back up and this seemed to solve the problem so I thought. The next morning I was on the internet and it shut off again.
I went back in the attic to see what I could see since the cable guy didn't check up there. What did I find?
I had a electrical wire and a cable wire next to each other when I went to move the wires I found a squirrel had chewed threw both the cable wire and electrical wire and they where touching so the current went threw the cable wire threw the house to the equipment and to me.
