The hamster does not really have any certain "germs". They do have germs, and some animals have the Zoonotic Disease, which is a disease passed from animals to humans. But it's rare. If you always wash your hands before and after handling your pet hamster, it wont harm you or get you sick.

∙ 14y agoVery rarely but if your or someone else's hamster has a diasese that animals get, it can some times pass from animal to human. Sort of like the Swine Flu. So the answer is yes. People can get sick from hamsters.

∙ 9y agoTo a degree, everything spreads germs. Your grandma spreads germs. As long as a the hamster is kept in clean conditions and is healthy, it shouldn't spread anything really harmful. Keep in mind, they do live in the same cage where they urinate and defecate, so after you handle them, you really do need to wash your hands before you make your next sandwich.
