They don't get paid by Wiki. However, my work is real slack and when I'm not busy I sit here and answer questions. So in a sense, I suppose I do get paid to answer these questions.

Remember that this is a wiki. There is no staff of people being paid to answer questions. There are only users like yourself who ask and occasionally answer questions. Yes, there is a staff of people who maintain and administer the site, but the vast majority of contributors are ordinary people from around the world. As you have experienced, there are disadvantages to wikis, but as you jump in and begin to have fun answering questions as well as asking them, you'll get to have a different experience of the site. By the way, I am NOT one of the paid staff.

Remember, it's a Wiki. There is a small paid staff that handle the technical maintenance of the system, but questions and answers are submitted by ordinary users across the globe like you and me (I am not paid to be here). So, it can be a matter waiting. Also, putting questions in the right categories can help a lot. Users will come in and search for unanswered questions in given categories. If your question is not categorized or is categorized incorrectly, it may never get seen.
