It can, but eating undercooked shrimp does not guarantee illness. That will depend on whether or not the raw shrimp carries the disease-causing microbes. But do not eat undercooked seafood. The risk is too great.

Different kinds of bacteria can cause food poisoning. The food poisoning "salmonella mostly occurs in canned foods like canned beans canned vegetables, etc. What you DONT want to do is eat a food item that is expired. For example: It is March 24th and the food you are eating expired in January. That could cause food poisoning. (Look for the expiration date on foods. It is usually on the top or bottom.)
