I ate a piece of banana cream pie with coconut crust-the bananas had turned black-about 6 hours after ingesting I became seriously ill with diarrhea and stomach pain. If the banana has been contaminated through improper handling, it could make someone sick. In the situation above, it might not have been the banana, but the cream filling itself. The black banana could have just been an indicator of mishandling.

I don't know the science behind this but I would suggest eating the banana with peanut butter and milk or with other foods; if it's banana bread, I would suggest milk at the least.
