i think you can get 4 starters 1 your first choice cyndaquil,chikorita or totodile then if you can catch a ditto you can breed it and trade it with a totodile,chikorita or cyndaquil and after you beat red you can get a charmander squirtle bolbasaur and you can get the starter from hoen torchic treeko and mudkip you can only get one starter Pokemon on these regions kanto and hoen :)
