To the best of my knowledge, there are no states that deem cartilage piercing to be in any way a medical procedure, which is usually the only instance when they can restrict what piercings that you can or cannot perform on clients. However, in a good amount of states, genital piercings on men and women can be dicey. Sometimes you can get a PA, but not an Ampallang, and then sometimes you can get a labia piercing, but not a hood. Call around to your local shops and ask them. I'm certain it won't be an issue though.
how old do you have to be to get your cartilage pierced

No.
You can get the cartilage pierced regardless of your being an athlete or not. It is your choice. I personally do not understand why people pierce themselves.
No.
it does hurt if you get your cartilage pierced. It will continue to hurt for about two the four weeks after you get it pierced.
You dont need to. I'm 15 and I've had my cartilage pierced for about a year and a half. You just need parental consent.
Many people say homosexuals get there cartilage pierced on the right. But many people don't believe that. It really depends on what you prefer.
