You need to be careful what you are talking about and know what you are saying before saying it, learn the lingo. "Studs" are the name for ear piercing gun posts used in ear piercing guns, ear piercing studs are only to be used in ear lobes and no other location on the body. In body piercing the thing you are asking about is called a "Barbell", it looks like an old school dumb bell for weight lifting but much smaller and made of high grade surgical 316 LVM steel, Titanium or Bio-compatable plastic. Yes you can get a nipple piercing done with a barbell, which is more comfortable and less obvious than captive bead rings. The barbell is generally 2~3 millimeters longer than the width of the nipple to allow for cleaning and nipple enhancement as it heals.

Well just like male exotic piercings, these are piercings that should only be done by a qualified seasoned professional body piercer. The anatomical structures must be understood and the jewellery for these various piercings must be only of the highest quality, and the skill and knowledge of a professional piercer applied to the requested piercing to assure a good safe result.

There are many variations of female exotic piercing available, this includes nipple piercing, these need to be discussed with your piercer to find the piercing that is right for you. I have seen many exotic piercings done by other less experienced piercers where the jewellery selection was wrong, the placement was incorrect and the aftercare was shear hell for the client. I have also been told about cases of inappropriate behaviour from other inexperienced piercers who are just pretending to be knowledgeable professionals.

So this is where your research and a prepiercing interview with the possible piercer of your choice are so very important. With any reputable studio, you must be able to have a guest with you during the piercing, if not, take that studio out of the running for your business. Interview the piercer, seriously interview them like they are applying for a job, because that's exactly what they are doing, they want your work so they need to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they know what they are doing. Do they have documented proof they have been actively piercing for as long as they say they have?

When asking about the piercings you and your guest should be taken off the general public floor for a discrete consultation. This is where the female or male piercer will prove they know what they are doing by explaining the piercing to you in detail and covering jewellery choices and placement locations as well as the aftercare and possible risks involved in the requested piercing.

You need to know that all exotic piercings should never be attempted by a novice piercer or yourself at home. Serious long term damage can result from inexperience, poor disinfection and not using sterilized materials. So ensure your piercer shows you all the materials that will be used during the provision of your piercing, what is sterilized must be and proof of sterilization should be evident. Discretion, is your piercer discrete? I have heard complaints about piercers seeing clients in malls and stores about town and asking how there exotic piercings are doing (tacky not to mention inappropriate. So when interviewing your piercer ask what the shop privacy policy is and how they maintain your privacy.

Yes there is a bit to go over but I can assure you that once you have done your research and taken some of the steps I have pointed out here, you should find a good studio with a great piercer, and the piercing you always wanted. Done safely and professionally.
