This is about a mother who suffered terribly by the lost of her son, on a stromy night out in the sea, she was placed in a mental institution..

i look around, the night is dark, i called but no one answered. listen, a faint echo. yesterday's echo was calling my name. i shall go, but wait, i must break these chains that bind me.

What i am doing here? and you, who are you, who let you in.

How long have you been here? and you why do you sit so quiet? you have never said a word.

Oh, to be with me a lady? None of their kind, for the years have darkened my eyes, and fear has cracked into my ears.

Hush, here comes the jailer, hide he must not take you away from me.

Jailer, jailer, here my plea I am not mad who speaks to you, please, please set me free!!

..You refuse, you're just like them, God will send you to hell, black demons and the horrible creatures of hell.!!!

..Lady, lady, why she is gone too, my friend, my only friend... MY ONLY FRIEND??

(hahahahha..hahahah)

Why?!!! No??!! the outside cell, the chirping of God's little creature is calling my name.. the storm,.. the shipwreck.. I hear my son's cry, piercing my heart like a dagger....

Oh, Edward, my son..the jailer does he know you are here??

Edward, come out now my son.... we must tell tell them that I am not mad... I am not MAD!!...

I AM NOT MAD!!! (hahahahah hahahahah)( huhu huhuhuhu huhu)

This declamation piece, I have rendered and won Gold medal in San Beda College 1983.

To those who wish to make this his/ her winning piece, I advice you to forget who you are and imagine a deranged mother, in a cell, bounded by chains and left in her own misery...

Capture the audience by laughing and crying at the same time.

Good luck to all of you who wishes to take this declamation piece.
