According to Wikipaedia(!), there is anecdotal evidence of sexual transmission - but there is no medical proof for this (although this could be due to lack of research rather than lack of validity!).

The Oxford Handbook of Clinical medicine does not mention human to human transmission, but the Lyme infection is from the same family as Syphillis, so transmission is probably possible even though it seems to be rare.

My advice would be to glove it up before you love it up, but you could always go and have a quick chat with your family doctor / GP

(The one human-human transmission that is commonly recognised is from mother to foetus.)
