It is better to go to the audition as yourself and then transition into character as part of your audition. Never dress in costume for an audition.
FYI, the auditions are not only in New York. they will probably be in Chicago and LA 2.
If you cant go to London they have to audition where you can go. If not then you're out of luck

It is pretty likely that if you go to a musical theater audition that at least one person will attempt popular. So, I guess it is a bit overdone. Don't let that stop you though, if you can sing it, feel confident and like that song it is definatly a good audition piece. Good luck!
it is now hosted by redbana. go to http://audition.nexon.net/To get your character transfer before June 14th 2009 to the new host. GL

yes it is true ! most of the student don't practice playing their musical instrument even when they want to take audition because they have their own confidence and belief that if they go for the audition then they definitely get the selection for the musical instrument so they don't want to take the audition.

There is no reason why you, as an inexperienced actor or singer, cannot do an audition. You may have great talent, despite being untrained. The college to which you apply might see something valuable in your audition that is worth developing. If you were already fully trained, you wouldn't need to go to college. Just do the audition and see what happens. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
in L.A you can audition i think you have to be a celebrity or they make you a celebrity
If you have more of an alto voice i would most certainly go with Jojo but if you are more saprano go with Christina. also it depends on the type of show you are auditioning for. the worst thing you can do is sing the music of the actual musical you are auditioning for, and if you are auditioning for a program not a musical than go with whatever song showcases your range.
