There is no debtor's prison in the US.
While the above is true, not paying taxes is a criminal matter not a civil one.
For not adhering to the laws of the State (Federal or State), there are many, many penalties of which prison time of various amounts, depending on the actual infraction - (failure to file, failure to pay, fraud, lieing under oath, etc, etc) are very real and frequently imposed penalties.
In fact here is a list of 10 celebrities (although you can just as easily make one up of any category - politicians, lawyers, etc) that have or are in jail for tax problems:
Of course you do, plus penal;ty and interest.Your jail is for the crime of trying to avoid taxes, not in lieu of paying them.
You will have to pay a fine. And pay all the money back that you owe.
You are legally required to pay taxes. Taxes are only due on money you have earned therefore if you owe taxes you have had the money. If you do not pay the taxes you owe you will be sent to court and made to pay - even if you go to prison you will still owe the tax man.

The worst that would happen is that you will go to jail. And still owe plus owe legal fees for you going to jail. as well as interest ontop of it. they can also garnish your wages and taxes.
in nc, can you go to jail if you owe a bank for a car?
When you go back to Germany you will pay a big penalty
The individual will still be responsible for paying back the money they owe even after serving time in jail. Time served does not fulfill their obligation to repay the victim for the property obtained by false pretense. They may be required to pay restitution as part of their sentence.
Not your car nessecarily, but you can go to jail for not paying child support. I don't think you need a car in jail.
