Yes. You can pick it up as soon as it is dry. Be gentle and make sure you know how to hold a guinea pig properly. It is actually good to hold them a lot when they are young, as it gets them used to humans.
Thye don't have periods.
that can cause a risk, as it can cause your cavy lots of stress but not all guinea pigs are like that but i hope all goes well for you, one of my guinea pigs died giving birth a week before here 1st birthday :(
Guinea pigs are scared of loud noises unles they are used to them. if you do not take out and hold or play with your guinea pig ATLEAST 5 times a week they will be scared of everything. they like to feel nice and secure so when you take them out for the 1st couple time wrap them up in a towel so they feel nice and secure!
Leave them alone for the 1st day then see if the mom is okay and not aggressive with yourself or the puffs. If there are dead guinea pigs then use sanatairy gloves and remove it. They should be very alert and clean by the 2nd day. Use recycled paper do they can have a better landing from the mother to the cage floor :) make sure she has lots of treats and fruit do she can be less streesed out. Only breed your guinea pig one a year if you want her to live longer. And put hay in their castle for mom to munch on! Good luck, hailey
It takes about 5-30 minutes for a mother to give birth to her baby(s). If it takes longer than that you have to get some help or go to the vet because if you don't the female guinea pig could die. Or the baby would have problems with it brain. (It just depends were it got stuck. If its halfway out it coming all the way out so don't worry about that. It could take 15 minutes for each guinea pig to come out if it is halfway out. It will take 5-30 minutes for all the guinea pigs. (Depending on how many guinea pig babies she has)
the 1st numbers equals how many guinea pigs there are in the world, the 2nd is how many turtles, and the 3rd is how many ppl they have killed while in their war.
Yea Improved: This is a possibility, but is not always the case. Many guinea pigs get along just fine; no matter what litter they are from. On the other hand, two guinea pigs may fight whether they are from different litters or not. You should always be careful and monitor interactions between two guinea pigs who are just meeting. Once you are sure they will not fight, you can let them be together in a large enough cage without constant supervision.
I buy horse bales of timothy/orchard grass blend of hay or pure timothy for my pigs at Southern States -- the 2nd and 3rd cuts which are typically fed to horses are ideal for pigs too since they aren't as coarse as 1st cuts. No need to waste money spending $8~10/pound of Timothy hay at a pet store when you can get a bale for the same price or less!
The guinea pig is an adult when he or she is 5 or 6 months old. Males can mate at the age of 3 weeks but females should only start to mate when they are 5 months old. The female should become pregnant for the 1st time when she is less than 9 months old if you want to mate her.
Well this happened to me i didnt mean it but i showed my guinea pigs another guinea pig three years younger than mine, so they started to get really wierd .(Is all i can say) they started circling themselves and then one jumped on the other one .And it looked like a piggyback thing but they started to squeal so i took one out (THEY WAS NOT BITING)i put them both in my run and put one under my washing basket with food and water and the other running about around the basket in the run, with food and water.I left them like this so they still knew each other because the washing basket had holes in after a day i let them together and they were fine. well, yes they can bite. they bite because your skin tastes sooooo good. and i am not exactly sure how to stop them.I agree with the 1st person but another reason is because they might smell food on your skin maybe corn, cabbage, ect. My guinea pig sometimes nibbles and it doesn't hurt but If I see him put his mouth around my finger I say No!Then he stops. To stop it is probely to wash your hands after there and your meal.
you would have to separate them. BUT they wouldn't tend to fight with each other unless you have female guinea pigs.but its natural behavour but if you cut their balls or somthing like that but go to your local petshop to do it.and that mite stop them but if not the separate them.
