Let say "do" is the root word. Prefix: "redo" means "do again". "re-" is one of the many prefixes used in English (other prefixes: un, in etc.). We call it prefix because it comes before the root word. "doer" means "someone who does something". "er" is one of the suffixes. It comes after the root word "do". Examples of other suffixes: -able, -ality, -ant, etc.
