You can if you want. But, you should know the risks.

I don't like to help chicks hatch. However, I still do help chicks out of their shell if they just can't make it, but I still don't like it. I believe that you have to trust in Mother Nature to know what she is doing, and I don't like to second guess her.

Having said that - I DO help chicks hatch. Most of the time, I am successful and the chick is fine. Sometimes as the chick grows, I see weaknesses that are like Mother Nature saying, "See, I told you!" But sometimes a healthy normal chick just has a little problem and can benefit from a helping hand.

Sometimes, despite your best efforts, the chick will die. But sometimes they will live and grow healthy and beautiful.

In fact, I helped a chick out of it's shell before and they very chick turned out to be a beautiful rooster with strong lungs. He has won the crowing contest at my fair two years in a row, and he will surely be entered in the contest next year.

yes and no it does not always hurt the chick. when you help a chick hatch you are taking away it's rest period it takes for some chicks most of the day to get out of the egg this is time for it to become stronger. I have had chicks not survive because I helped them out their shell I find it is best just to leave them be

We have hatched 2 chicks and I say no don't help-it but if there is a shard of the shell I would recommend you put a tiny hole for air even though there is an air sack. But I would do this only if the thin grayish skin is there.

No. Only on rare occasions would you ever attempt to remove a chick from the shell. If the chick has already peeped (opened the shell all around) and seems to be struggling, it is probably from lack of moisture/humidity. In this case a very careful removal might help but not likely. Better to increase the humidity inside the incubator and allow the chick to continue its work. You should never attempt to start a hole in the shell of an non peeped egg as the inner membrane of the shell has blood vessels inside and you would/could start a lethal bleed.

You can by artificially incubating the eggs.

If you are asking if you should help a chick out of its shell the answer is No.

One of the biggest mistakes of novice breeders and classroom experiments is to assist a chick part way through peeping. A chick too weak to emerge from its shell will likely not survive. Hatch mates will kill the weak.

This is not to say it has not been done successfully. The risks are high, mistakes are easy to make and even when successful the survival rate is poor.

NO. DO NOT HELP!

You should never help chicks hatch, UNLESS they are hatching from a very large egg. Chicks don't hatch for a reason - because they are weak, inferior, deformed, or otherwise sub-par. You helping will only cause them to suffer and die an even slower and more agonizing death.

You would keep the eggs in an incubator or under the mother hen.
