Numbness and occassional sharp shooting pains are generally the symptoms of a severed nerve. You should know however that there are no nerves in your lip that will cause you to lose total sensation in your lip or even cause prolonged issues. If it doesn't grow back another nerve will grow in it's place and you will still have the feeling in your lip, it may be a bit more subdued, but nothing horrible. Really the only nerve close to your lip that could cause serious issues is in your jaw bone, it supplies all the other little nerves to your cheeks, mouth, lips, chin, and teeth so if you are experiencing total numbness think about dental work as well, contact your piercer, and then follow their advice.
Lip Piercings do not hurt unless you pierce over scar tissue generally... Some say its about the same as popping a pimple, but it varies from people, also some times the piercing artist goes from the inside of your mouth, some times they go from the outside and i have heard they have different levels of pain, i got mine from the out side and i have heard that the out side, in hurts more.
LABRET this is a stud in your lip
Yeah go to a shop to be safe , or somebody expierenced.
Well you know you wont hit a vein when the piercing is done by a professional body piercer working in a licensed and inspected facility. Don't mess with things you know nothing about, leave the piercing to an experienced professional.
Your bottom lip might be numb at times because you have nerve damage. This might be the result of an accident like getting hit in the face with a baseball for example.
Put plainly, no. The nerve that could cause paralysis if damaged is in your jaw bone and thus safe from harm. However, you shouldn't pierce anything on your own unless you're a trained piercer as things can go wrong and such things, like infection, can cause permanent, irreparable damage.
The skin of bottom lip is supplied by infra orbital nerve which is branch of maxillary branch of trigeminal nerve. The nerve may be pinched somewhere in its course.
You don't pierce your lip with the ring, you need a specific sized needle, and then you slide the ring in. I'd recommend going to a professional unless you wish to have an infection or pierce it in-correctly.
I knew this guy that pierced his lip hisself and hit a nerve and a large part of the left side of his face is permenantly numb. I pierced mine 4 times, and it turned out fine, but i guess i just got lucky.
Hi there, I have had my lip done for nearly a year now, and thinking about getting the other side done. Yes it does go red for about 3-4 days, then the redness will fade. Occasionly it swells but this is only if you do not clean it. ENJOY!
Sometimes. If you do it by yourself, it can happen. If you pierce it in the wrong spot, you can hit a nerve, resulting in paralyzation. I highly recommend getting it pierced by a purofessional. You can do damage to nerve bundles if you attempt to do your own piercing. Leave it to a professional body piercer.
Remove it right away else it will stay swollen
