The PlayStation can not use the USB for an internet connection. The only way the PS3 can have an internet connection is with the WiFi or from the ethernet cable A PS3 has a wireless card inbuilt, I believe, so there shouldn't be a need for this.
You have to have a router to connect more than 1 item with Comcast Internet unless you also got the wireless router from Comcast. You can either go out and purchase a router either wireless, both, or Ethernet. I purchased a wireless router and then decided I liked the wired system better and purchased an Ethernet cable to hook up the PlayStation 3 because I saw that the router also had 4 Ethernet plugs in back. So you still need to purchase a router even though you have Internet access with Comcast.
Unfortunately, a hub isn't a router so you won't be able to get wireless Internet from one.
Internet by cable is ofcause faster than Wireless but wireless is easier to connect to and you can do so anywhere around the routers range without a cable connected
Yes, you generally need a wireless router to connect a desktop computer to wireless internet. The router provides the Wi-Fi signal that your desktop can connect to. If the desktop does not have a built-in Wi-Fi adapter, you can use a USB or PCIe wireless adapter.
