I think it can happen. I think you can like someone so much that sometimes you will interpret signs of friendliness as more than what it actually is. I believe that when someone really likes you they will, as some point, make sure that you know - they will either tell you something or make some kind of physical gesture such as standing close to you whenever they can, touching your hand, or holding your hand. Sometimes it can be hard to know for sure because many times people play so many mind games it would be easy for your imagination to sometimes feel tricked. Usually your intuition (your gut feeling) will help you out. If you have a strong feeling that they like you back then they probably do!
