Birthstones are different for each month of the year. The site Birthday Gems has a list of each month and the stone that corresponds with it. You would need to find out the months of birth, and then match the stones.

You can compare to a list of stones with their known densities, and at least rule out most of the stones that are far off.

The Median is the 'middle value' in your list or series of numbers. When the totals of the list are odd, the median is the middle entry in the list after sorting the list into increasing order.
