There is no simple answer to that. Epilepsy comes in many forms, and seizures can be of different types. Some seizures would be very minor and not cause any problems. People who get severe seizures could be different. A woman who has epilepsy and is considering having a baby should talk to a doctor. There is also the factor of medication. Most people with epilepsy are taking medication. So for any given individual, this question can really only be answered by their doctor.

∙ 12y agoThe reason/illness you have seizures might prevent pregnancy but seizures itself does not. So it depends on why you have seizures in the first place. They occur in the brain so it should not be able to prevent pregnancy. The muscle spasms do not prevent pregnancy.

∙ 10y agoNothing in particular. Having epilepsy is not a problem in that way. Epilepsy can be heriditary, but that is in extremely rare cases, so there is very little chance of a child having epilepsy if one or both parents have it. It is not contagious or infectious, so it cannot be caught by someone. So you would just attend your doctor as normal during the pregnancy. Each person is different in terms of their epilepsy, so your doctor would deal with your situation.
