check your coil, and your distributor, and ditributor cap, along with all wires and connections.
check your battery connections (maybe loose wires)
If there is power in the radio but the system is lacking sound then there is a problem with the speaker connections. On the 1997 Dodge Dakota check the speaker connections with a spark tester. If no spark trace the wires to find any loose or incorrect connections.

You will first need to remove the coils and plug wires to access the spark plugs. The coils sit on top of the valve cover and are held in with small torx head screws. Then pry off the plug wires and remove the coil and wires together. Then you have access to the spark plugs.
Disconnect the battery, remove the spark plugs wires and boots and remove the spark plugs. Put in the spark plugs, replace the spark plug wires and boots, and connect the battery.
Just apply a small dab the size of a tic tac on both ends of the spark plug wire. Also a small dab of anti seize on the spark plug threads will help as well.
