If you are using Win 7 or Win 8 , you can find Bitlocker in control panel, this feature is able to password protect flash drives. But if you are using other OSes, you can try to use 3rd party software. I recommend you to use USB security, which is also free and easy to use.

Flash drive can store any kind of information. If information is in electronic format it can be transferred to a flash drive. Just make sure that you have enough empty space available on you flash drive before transferring information. Otherwise it might not fit.
