Initial patch dose estimates are always skewed toward the low end, and as a result, the initial dose usually isn't enough. That's why Percocet (oxycodone/tylenol combination) is usually prescribed at the outset. After the patch dose is nailed down. Percocet or Oxycodone is still prescribed as the breakthrough med for when the patient's activity raises pain levels to the point where it's exceeding the patch pain relief ability.

∙ 15y agoYes, it is done everyday. Pain patients may have the Duragesic patch and also have emergency oxycodone tablets up to 30mg. However, these people have a largely developed tolerance to the opiate drugs. I would not recommend doing it unless you have a very large tolerance. Hope this answers your question. Stay safe!

I do not have the answer for methadone and fentanyl combination but do not use the tramadol methadone combination. If you do or have you are in for a very very scary experience. There are many pain meds you cannot mix with methadone. Take it from a life long methadone patient who has experienced what it is like to mix an opiate antagonist with methadone........Do not try it............................
