Both can be prescribed concurrently in cases where someone has ADHD and an anxiety disorder, or ADHD and a sleep disorder. However, the depressant effects of the xanax will counteract the stimulant properties of the Adderall, and Xanax is known to decrease attention span / concentration.

Can? Yes. Suggested? No! Caffeine, from experience, seems to combat the anti anxiety effects of Xanax and increase withdrawal like symptoms with a quicker onset. Even more so with higher dosages of caffeine, such as dosages found in "energy drinks." My suggestion is no, do not mix. Better safe than sorry. If you are feeling too drowsy from the Xanax, talk to your doctor. In fact, ask your doctor about all of the things that you may want to avoid in your diet while taking this medication. It may save you a visit to the hospital. Believe me, I've been there, done that, got the blood work, drug screens and catscans, not to mention the few weeks of amnesia and dilusion to prove it. Lets just say, stay away from anything grapefruit related as well.
