Can you keep a box jellyfish in captivity? if yes where can i buy them? pleaseYou can keep a box jellyfish in captivity, but you would have to keep it in a very large circular tank (it has to be circular so they jelly doesn't get stuck in the corners) though you will have trouble trying to get hold of a box jellyfish as it is illegal to possess one sorry x

Also the current jellyfish aquarium systems seem to be quite expensive and complicated to have. So we have come up with an affordable and practical solution for the people who love the idea of keeping these beautiful and pre historic creatures in their homes. There are several myths that keep people from having these fascinating creatures and home 1. Jellyfish need expensive, specially designed circular tanks because normal rectangular tanks have corners that they get stuck in. A specially engineered continuous current is also required. This may require loud machinery. Not necessarily, only the so called moon jelly (Aurelia aurita) seems to get stuck in the corners, but the white and blue mushroom jellyfish simply turn and swim. Also there is the upset down jellyfish they are not free swimming so they also don't require circular tanks… (they surface occasionally but settle down on the bottom again) A simple filter system will work if you keep the right quantities of jellies in the tank.

2. Jellyfish are marine animals and require saltwater. Maintaining a saltwater aquarium is harder to do and more expensive than a freshwater aquarium. There are fresh water mushroom jellyfish (really beautiful) so no need saltwater, and again if you want salt water you can have a small tank like shown in the video for a affordable price.
