There are 18 different types of owls in North America and several of these make their homes in New Jersey. The most common types of owls that you will find in NJ are the screech owl, the Barred owl and the barn owl. Most owls are nocturnal making them difficult to see during the day. That said, the owls mentioned above all can be seen in the very early morning and occasionally during the early evening.

Bald eagles were once plentiful in New Jersey. But by 1982, there was only one known nest and that nest had failed for 8 successive years.

In 2009, the population of bald eagles in New Jersey was around 264, and was expected to increase.
