Probably not; raccoons may be gentle when young but they can grow up to be quite wild and not very suitable for life in captivity as a pet.
More Info
NO. They are wild animals and have very big teeth and claws. They are aggressive and don't get any better as they age. Raccoons also carry a parasite that can be transmitted to people. This is carried in their urine and feces and any person coming into contact may get the parasite. The parasite is so pervasive that bleach and cleaning products will NOT kill it.

the parasite thing is true but i beg to differ. i have two raccoon for about two years now and i have had them since they were babies. IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW YOU TREAT AND RAISE THE RACCOON ok? now to not get the parasite duh you don't eat anything that it has used the bathroom on. mine were wild till i found fed and cared for them. they love me and are friendly. its ok.

no actually its not ok my family owns a wildlife educational park and having wild animals as pets is illegal and dangerous. you have to have a special license to keep them and you have to have the proper care and place to keep them. so if you think its ok to keep your coons as pets with out a license its illegal to do!!! and it doesn't depend on how you treat or care for them its illegal!!!

I think that only SOME wild animals are illegal. We had a raccoon as a pet when I was a young girl (about 40 years ago), and he was very tame and a very fun pet. Later, we had a batch of 3 orphaned raccoons that we "adopted", and they stayed very wild-like. Never did tame down.... I think because they had each other, they never wanted to domesticate. However, a warning, raccoons can carry rabies. So before you handle them, I would keep them in captivity for 2 weeks to rule out the possibility of rabies. For your enjoyment, rent the Disney movie, "Rascal" about a pet raccoon..... a very cute family movie.

Take it from someone who has rehabilitated a number of baby raccoons, they do not make good pets and are illegal in most states. They can be quite sweet and gentle when very young but once they become sexually mature at about 2 years of age and the hormones kick in they can be quite unpredictable and potentially dangerous. Stick with a dog or a cat.

If you are referring to a wild raccoon, NO. Mom will not like it and, if the baby's eyes are open, you might just get clawed or bitten by the baby.
