Yes! The eighth level, Meta Knightmare Ultra, is the only level that you can play as Meta Knight in. He had four abilities, and two possible partners. The only partners he could have were Blade Knight and Sword Knight. You can call a partner if you have two Meta Points. If you have 8, you can be super fast. If you have 10, you could heal yourself completely (probably), and with 30 Meta Points, you can do a really tough attack, Mach Tornado. You can get Meta Points by defeating enemies. They are blue spheres. Defeating a boss or miniboss earns you 10 Meta Points. Basically, Meta Knight is a tougher version of Sword Kirby. The final boss in the level is Galacta Knight, an upgraded version of Meta Knight, and he played through Spring Breeze, Dyna Blade, The Great Cave Offensive, Return of Meta Knight, and Milky Way Wishes, hoping to find the greatest warrior in the galaxy. Once he found the Nova, it granted Meta Knight's true desire: to battle the toughest warrior in the galaxy. In the end, Meta Knight defeated Galacta Knight. Galacta Knight was sealed away by ancients.
