In American football, a down is a play. A team has four plays to advance the ball 10 yards. If they are able to advance the ball 10 yards, they are given another four plays to get another 10 yards. If they are not able to advance the ball 10 yards in four plays, the other team gains possession of the ball. When you hear the term 'first down' that means the upcoming play is the first play in the series of four the team has to advance the ball 10 yards. 'Second down' is the second play in the series of four, 'third down' is the third play in the series of four, and 'fourth down' is the fourth play in the series of four.

You wouldn't be allowed out by yourself. But, you would be disqualified from the competition, and probably suspended from your club.
In a single group the maximum number of players playing their own ball is four. You can have a one, two, three or four ball.
These competitions run throughout the year from April â?? October in the UK. The format alternates between Stroke play and Stableford scoring.
The rules do not anticipate such an event. I would say this wouldn't happen to you in competition, because the greens staff wouldn't set it up to go off during a competition. If it is not a competition just wait for it to stop and collect the ball or just grab it if you get the chance and play it from where ever you want. If you are in competition, let the sprinkler stop then you will have to play the ball as it lies, unless there is a local rule which will be on the back of the scorecard. If there is casual water caused by the sprinkler you will get relief.
A down is a play. When you hear the phrase "the team has four downs to make 10 yards in order to keep possession of the ball" it means that the team has four plays to make 10 yards. When it is 'second down' that means the team is on the second play of four in which they have to make 10 yards to keep possession of the ball. The 'down marker' is a play marker. When the 'down marker' reads 3, it is third down or the third play of four in which the team must make 10 yards in order to keep possession of the ball.
The name baseball came from the game. you play with four bases and one ball
