Yes, of course. You may wish to choose a profession that does not require heavy lifting or sitting/standing in the same position all day long.
I have had Scoliosis for 20 years and I work from home as a result of the disability, but I work full time without too many issues.
Choose your work wisely :)
What is normal? Like a number of other handicaps, You can live with it all your life without doing anything about it, a number of people do. Most people die from something else. It only kills a few of its victims.
By the time you stop growing your curve will stop progressing and stay 'as is' if it's under 45-50 degrees, if the curve is any larger than the curve will continue to progress even when you stop growing, in this case surgery must be preformed.
You will not be able to work out right after. I had scoliosis surgery and I had restricted activities for at least 6 months.
However, once you are recovered and get the go-ahead from your doctor, it is actually encouraged to stay very fit and get lots of exercise.

Yes you can work out in the gym with scoliosis, however, I would always advise that you speak to your GP before starting any exercise regime. Each individual scoliosis case is different.

Yes, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. This is coming from someone who has had 28 operations on her spine due to scoliosis. I'm in high school and I'm a very sporty person, I'm in the hockey, Netball and cross country team. It doesn't affect a persons sports ability.

I have two. 1. Your spine stops curving when you stop growing2. It does not cause pain itself:)You're 20% more likely to develop scoliosis if someone else in your family also has scoliosis. In 80% of scoliosis cases, the cause is unknown-that's known as idiopathic scoliosis.Scoliosis is usually painless.Girls are at least four times as likely to develop scoliosis as boys?and doctors don't know why that is.96% of adolescents with scoliosis continue to play sports.
As Rugby is a high impact sport playing with ANY skeletal issue is inadvisable. Its more so where the back is effected. There are sports that this type of issue will not effect the performance of the person - I suggest seeking expert advice
Assuming that the scoliosis isn't caused by a congenital disorder like spina bifida or muscular dystrophy, doctors don't know. They suspect that genetics play some sort of role in scoliosis.
