Another View: No. Because the amendment is meant to protect you from testifying against your OWN self interest. You cannot plead the protection of the 5th Amendment simply because you don't want to assist in your son's prosecution.
Unless you are a principal in your son's trial (accomplice?) or are in danger of implicating yourself in his offense, you are not in danger of convicting yourself because you are not on trial.
