I don't think they should be in the same room either. It'd stress them both out. The guinea pig would get scared considering it is a prey animal. The ferret would get stressed because it wants a meal it can't have. The stress would result in shorter lives for both animals.
So in conclusion, DON'T put them together AT ALL! Either get two pigs or two ferrets. I would also consider reaserching since most cavy owners know guinea pigs can only be housed with its own kind.
