Small steering wheels are nice , until you have to turn a corner. Also , what about the airbag ?
I believe it is covered by a small removable plastic cover in the lower area of the dash below the steering wheel

I believe the data link connector ( DLC ) is behind a small removable plastic panel , in the dash , below the steering wheel , between the inside hood release and the emergency brake release
No , it's rear wheel drive
Okay a Mazda and a Ford pick up are basically the same thing so first check the top part of the cover directly behind the steering wheel. If there is a small removable cover there, remove it and look inside. You should see a what appears to be a small bolt going straight down. As you turn that bolt it will gradually force the steering wheel off. If you don't have the small cover, there are four small bolts on the back side of the steering wheel to remove the air bag. Once the airbag is off you will see a large nut that has to be removed. Once removed you will need a steering wheel puller to force it off.
To change the steering wheel on a 1999 VW Cabrio, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the airbag by unscrewing the screws located on the back of the steering wheel, then carefully disconnect the airbag connector. Use a steering wheel puller to remove the old steering wheel after loosening the central nut. Finally, install the new steering wheel by reversing the steps, making sure to reconnect the airbag properly before reconnecting the battery.
