If you swallow dry ice, it would be bad to say the least, and could be a death sentence depending on the context and quantity. As soon as it has contact with your esophagus, you will receive considerable damage in the form of frostbite as it goes down. Once it reaches your stomach (if it gets that far- it has a habit of freezing the surrounding environment to the point that it stays in place-place it in water and watch it freeze a ice cap all around it self), it will start releasing amounts of CO2 in your stomach acid, you will in essence have lots of gas (burping continually). If it makes contact with your stomachs lining it could freeze a portion of it. If you were not in trouble before, you are now. This could result in serious ulcers that would need medical attention.
I could go on, but it would most likely turn into gas in your stomach doing massive amounts of damage to any lining it touches. This entire process would be painful until the nerves themselves are frozen. Either way, swallowing dry ice is more of a nightmare than a stupid idea.
yes you can but if you get a paeice of almost any size down your throat it can give you a sore throat or you can get a fragment in your lungs and you will get frostbite and possibly die also dont use the ice they use to get rind of moles and u will possiably die to frosbite!-Man utd107! rox!
Dry ice will turn flesh white in only a few seconds (once contact is removed it will fade as your skins temperature returns to normal). Any more contact than that results in burns in varying intensity based on contact time. If you swallow dry ice, it would be bad and could be a death sentence depending on the quantity. No!... well it is possible, but very much not recommended. Dry ice is -109°F. This could cause bad burns in your throat/stomach. Every safety precaution for dry ice says not to.
No, dry ice is far to cold to safely touch, let alone eat.
You would die
No, it will burn your mouth.
You should not try breathe in dry ice.
you die
Dry ice IS the solid form of carbon dioxide. And "dry ice" IS the common name for the solid CO2. So the question should be "What substance is the common name Dry Ice used for ? "
Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide.
If the ice melts, then because of the density of water, it will implode (Explode INWARD) because of the less particles in the liquid.
The density of dry ice is about 1.5 g cm-3. Since there are 3785 cm3 in a gallon, a gallon of dry ice would weigh about 5.8 kg.
It is called "dry" because when heat is given, it sublimes (turns from a solid into a gas). This is different from actual ice that turns from a solid to a liquid. It is called "ice" because solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) is very cold, similar to ice.
Nothing would happen.
Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide- it evaporates ito gaseous form if you leave it out. That is why it is "dry".
no.
They would run a considerable risk of suffering poor health due to malnutrition.
is cinnomin the strongest spice in the world
If you mean the dry ice bomb as in putting dry ice in a bottle and sealing it, and then having it explode, then no. The bottle and the dry ice cannot be reused from the Dry Ice Bomb. The reasoning is that the Dry Ice would have already used enough of its fuel to try to explode the bottle that no fuel is left to explode another, and the bottle would be ripped in half by the Dry Ice inside, so the bottle cannot be reused.
Yes and No at the same time because if it was real ice it would melt. But if it was dry ice we would not be able to skate on it.
Frozen carbon dioxide (dry ice) will turn back to a gas when heated at any temperature above freezing.
Dry ice is a solid form of carbon dioxide, which at room temperature is a gas. During the melting process, there would be a time during which the dry ice would be liquid, however the amount of liquid would be minimal. Sources: Wikipedia entry for "Dry ice"
Dry ice is transformed in carbon dioxide gas by sublimation.
Sublimation: from solid directly to gas.
