You'd really have to check with the Veterans Administration to be sure, however, unless the regulation has changed - no. I believe one year after separation you can apply to upgrade that "Other Than Honorable" to an "Honorable" discharge and then be eligible for benefits. A lot hinges on your civilian record since discharge. Again, I'm going from memory and everyone knows that's not reliable, so to be sure call your local VA representative and ask them. They can cite you chapter and verse and will even assist you in the application process when the time requirement is up.

If anyone else out there can help this guy or provide more accurate information PLEASE do.

Can you still receive you GI bill with another than honorable discharge?

Yes. Having an Other Than Honorable discharge does not bar you from getting a Federal Job. They may scrupulously ask you further questions but it does not disqualify you. I know this because I work for the Federal Government and received an OTH several years ago. And I specifically stated on my application the type of discharge.

Do you get any benefits if u completed your first term in the military and was cour marshaled on 2nd enlistment?

If you completed your first term in the military and were subsequently court-martialed during your second enlistment, it is unlikely that you would receive any benefits. The military generally provides benefits to honorable or general discharge recipients, and a court-martial usually results in a less favorable discharge status, such as a dishonorable discharge. Dishonorable discharges typically result in the loss of many military benefits.

What discharge did John Boehner receive from the navy?

He was given an honorable discharge. It was an administrative seperation for medical reasons. His biography lists the reason as a "bad back". This hints to me that Mr. Boehner simply was unable to adjust to the military lifestyle and was discharged during his basic training rather than saddle some command with another cry baby.
