Theoretically, it is possible, since none of the strings are actually tuned. The tuning of each string evolves from the software. Currently none of the preset patches use drop tuning, however.
Three Days Grace used the tuning Drop D for their song Break.
The best, and most common tuning for a guitar is Standard E tuning, but it really depends on the type of music you're playing. Many metal songs use Drop C or Drop B, rock songs can vary between Standard, Drop D, or simply D. So figure out your style of music, then find out what sounds best.
Escape the Fate play in Drop C, standard, and drop D tuning. Here are the tunings written down, the left column is the standard E tuning and the right one is the new tuning (for comparison)Drop C:E - DB - AG - FD - CA - GE - CStandard:E-EB-BG-GD-DA-AE-EDrop D:E-EB-BG-GD-DA-AE-D
Most of their older songs (first 5 albums) are in standard tuning. Metallica went down to drop C for St. Anger but tuned back up to standard E for Death Magnetic. Most of their songs are in E. Drop C tuning is (low to high) CGCFAD Added on December 14 2010 by Shea84: Don't forget to mention that all of the songs from the old days that are in standard tuning are played a half step down live nowadays :-)
They use strictly Drop-C tuning on their album "The Poison" They use Down 1 Step/D Standard tuning on their Album "Scream, Aim Fire," with the exception of a couple of songs which use Drop-C tuning. These songs are "Hearts Burst Into Fire" and "Waking The Demon".
Depends on the tuning. If you are playing on standard E up to drop C tuning, I would suggest a four strings bass, any lower tuning from standard C to A is more fitted for a five string bass.
They use a variety of tunings, e.g. Drop B, C standard, and Drop D. It honestly depends o the album.
I would use 11-54's for Drop C tuning. That way it should still feel as tight as strings in standard tuning and it won't (or shouldn't) cause any problems with your neck or bridge.
During black sails/ the art of drowning he played standard tuning. for more recent albums he used Eb-Bb-Gb-Db-Ab-Eb (standard tuning 1/2 step down) for most songs and on some songs he drops the low Eb to Db (Drop D tuning 1/2 step down).
Yes it is called drop tuning. Drop tuning is used to play lower notes than you could normally play in standard tuning.
